Who We Are
3.2.1Empower is a BC Society that educates and empowers young female survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Canada, India and around the World.
Local Work in Canada
Over the past three years, 3.2.1Empower has partnered with Victim Services of Leeds and Grenville (VSLG), an Ontario-based organization that works to assist and rehabilitate survivors of crime and trauma. Through this work, 3.2.1Empower has brought its physical fitness training program to local survivors in Ontario. Executive Director Sonya Jodoin has noted that 3.2.1Empower’s work has been especially effective, such that VSLG is planning on implementing the programming into a larger initiative in 2020!
According to the Thomson Reuters Foundation, almost 20,000 women and children were survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in India in 2017. Child survivors comprise approximately 40% of these individuals. As such, many governments, organizations, charities and individuals around the world are working to eradicate sexual exploitation and human trafficking globally, with a focus on assisting young female survivors especially.
3.2.1Empower aims to provide assistance, support, and skillset training in the health and wellness sector for young female survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. In doing so, 3.2.1 aims to help these individuals during their recovery and healing processes and acquire real-world skills with which to live healthy and independent lives.
